Song License

The rights you get in your song. One license, every package.

Draft: review before launch. Pending Georgia attorney review. Confirm it still matches your music platform's current terms of service before taking real payments. Remove this note once finalized.

One license, every package. Plain English on purpose.

1. What you are getting

When you purchase any Mascot & Main package, you receive the custom song(s) described in that package, delivered as audio files (MP3, and WAV where your package includes it), plus this license to use them. The package determines how many songs, versions, and revision rounds you get. The license is the same for every package.

2. Your license

Mascot & Main grants you a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, play, perform, stream, and display your delivered songs for your organization’s own purposes, including:

  • Games, events, pep rallies, ceremonies, and other gatherings
  • Broadcasts and live streams of your events
  • Your website, social media accounts, videos, and promotional materials
  • Use by your school or organization, its teams, its booster or parent groups, and its official channels

You may trim, shorten, fade, or convert the file format of your songs for your own use.

3. What the license does not cover

  • Selling, licensing, or giving the songs to another organization
  • Using the songs in paid advertising for a third party’s products or services
  • Uploading the songs to music streaming or download stores (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.), except through the Mascot & Main streaming add-on described in Section 7
  • Removing or altering any provenance metadata contained in the delivered files
  • Using the songs to train, develop, or improve AI or machine learning systems

4. How your songs are made, and what that means

Mascot & Main writes and directs your lyrics and creative direction, and produces the music using AI music generation tools under Mascot & Main’s paid commercial license with the platform. You should know three things about this:

  • The platform retains certain rights under its own terms, including the right to identify publicly that a song was generated on its service, and a license to content submitted to it (including lyrics).
  • Because of how AI-generated recordings are treated under current copyright law, Mascot & Main grants you all rights it holds in your songs but does not represent that a copyright exists in the recordings.
  • Mascot & Main does not promise exclusivity. AI tools can produce similar-sounding music for different users, and Mascot & Main creates songs for many organizations. Your lyrics are written for you; your musical style is not reserved for you alone.

5. What you provide

If you give Mascot & Main names, mascots, slogans, lyric ideas, or other material to include in your songs, you confirm that you have the right to use them and you allow Mascot & Main and its production tools to use them to create your songs. You are responsible for making sure any school or organization names and marks you supply are yours to use.

6. Mascot & Main’s promises, and their limits

  • Mascot & Main created your songs for you and did not knowingly copy any third party’s music or lyrics.
  • Mascot & Main will deliver the songs, versions, and revision rounds described in your package.
  • Mascot & Main does not guarantee that any social network, streaming service, or other platform will accept or keep your songs online. Those platforms set their own rules.

Mascot & Main’s total liability to you for anything related to your songs or this license is limited to the amount you paid for your package. Mascot & Main is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

7. Streaming add-on (optional)

If you purchase the streaming add-on, Mascot & Main will submit your song(s) to major streaming platforms (such as Spotify and Apple Music) through Mascot & Main’s own distribution account, with Mascot & Main listed as the artist. This means:

  • Your song appears under the Mascot & Main artist profile, not under your organization’s name. Your organization’s name will typically appear in the song title (for example, “Eagle Nation (Mt. Bethel Fight Song)”).
  • Mascot & Main owns and controls the listing, including any streaming revenue it generates. The listing is maintained for one year and may be kept live after that at Mascot & Main’s discretion.
  • If the listing is ever removed, your license to use your delivered files is not affected.
  • Acceptance is decided by the distributor and the platforms, not by Mascot & Main. If a song is rejected and cannot be placed, the add-on fee for that song will be refunded. Mascot & Main does not guarantee placement, playlisting, or revenue.
  • You agree not to separately upload the same song to streaming or download stores under your own account or artist name.

8. Revisions and delivery

Revision rounds are included as described in your package; additional rounds are available as an add-on. A revision round means one consolidated set of requested changes. Songs are delivered by download link. Payments are final once the first song version has been delivered.

9. Housekeeping

  • No attribution is required, though “Song by Mascot & Main” is always appreciated.
  • This license is between your organization and Mascot & Main LLC, and is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia.
  • If any part of this license is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
